1.2. API Playground Export

1. On the left-hand menu in your REDCap project, click on API Playground*
   1.  *If you do not see this button, your user rights need to be modified to grant you permission to API Export and API Import/Update features. Navigate to User Rights --> click to modify your user rights --> check off these items:
2. Click on 'Create API token now'. A request will be sent to a REDCap administrator, who will grant you an API token
3. Once your API token is granted, go back to the API Playground. Under API method, select Export Project XML:
4. Select the desired parameters following the guidelines outlined here: https://redcap.med.usc.edu/redcap_v14.3.2/API/help.php?content=exp_proj_xml
5. Click Execute Request
6. Copy and paste the output into a plain text file on your computer and save it. This is the XML backup of your project
